Privacy
The short version: on the free plan your invoices stay in your browser. On a paid plan you get an account, and your invoices sync to it so they follow you to other devices. We don't run analytics, we don't read your invoices, and we don't sell anything about you.
Who we are
Quire is run by Souptik Debnath, an individual based in India (“Quire”, “we”). You can reach us at support@tryquire.com.
Where your invoices are kept
Everything you type into the editor — invoices, client details, your logo and cover images, QR codes, your defaults and saved clients — is saved in your browser’s local storage on the device you are using.
On the free plan, that is the only copy. It is not sent to us. It also means we can’t recover it: clearing your browser data, using a private window or switching devices leaves it behind. You can download a backup file from Defaults and restore it anywhere.
On a paid plan, while you are signed in, a copy of all of it is also kept in your account, so it is there when you sign in on another device. It is stored in our database (run by Neon, in Singapore), encrypted in transit and at rest. We don’t look at it, and nothing reads it except the code that syncs it back to you.
If your plan ends, syncing stops, and the copy in your account stays there in case you come back, until you delete your account.
Shared links
When you copy a link to an invoice, the whole invoice is encoded into the part of the address after the #. Browsers never send that part to a server, so the invoice travels from you to whoever you send the link to without passing through us. Anyone who has the link can read the invoice, so share it the way you would share the PDF.
Accounts
You don’t need an account to use Quire for free. You get one when you buy a paid plan, so the plan can follow you to any device you sign in on. There are no passwords: you sign in with a link we email you.
An account holds:
- your email address and an account ID;
- your sign-in sessions, each with the IP address and browser it was started from, so a session can be checked and ended;
- sign-in links that haven’t been used yet, which expire after 10 minutes;
- the plan you have paid for, as last reported by Polar;
- on a paid plan, the synced copy of your invoices, defaults, saved clients and their images, as described above.
A session lasts until you sign out or 60 days pass without you using Quire.
When you buy a paid plan
Payments are handled by Polar (polar.sh), which acts as the merchant of record: Polar is the seller you pay, and it collects your name, email address, billing details and payment information to process the purchase and handle tax. Card and UPI details go to Polar and its payment processor and never reach us.
Polar tells us what you bought and links it to your account, so we can switch your plan on and keep it up to date when it renews, is cancelled or is refunded. Polar’s own privacy policy covers what it does with your information.
Who else is involved
- Cloudflare hosts the site. Like any web host it processes the technical details of each request — such as your IP address, browser type and the page requested — to deliver the site and protect it from abuse.
- Neon runs the database that stores accounts and, for paid plans, the synced copy of your invoices, on servers in Singapore.
- Resend sends the sign-in emails, so it receives your email address and the message.
- Polar, as above, for payments.
- Email. Mail sent to support@tryquire.com is forwarded by Cloudflare to an inbox hosted by Google (Gmail), where we read and answer it.
Each of them handles your information only to provide that service. The site’s fonts are served from our own domain, so loading a page doesn’t contact Google or any font service.
What we don't do
- No analytics, tracking pixels or advertising scripts.
- No selling or renting of personal information, ever.
- No reading of the invoices you create.
- No marketing emails. The only email we send is the sign-in link you ask for.
Cookies and local storage
Quire doesn’t set tracking cookies. If you sign in, it sets one cookie that keeps you signed in; without it, signing in wouldn’t work. Local storage remembers your workspace, your theme, and which editor sections you left open. Polar may set cookies on its own checkout pages.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account at any time: sign in, open the account menu at the bottom of the sidebar, and choose Delete account. It removes your account, every session, any unused sign-in links, the plan we had on record and the synced copy of your invoices, straight away. Invoices in your browser are not touched.
Records of what you bought stay with Polar, because as the seller it has to keep them for tax. If you sign in again later with the same email, a plan you paid for comes back.
Your rights
You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, or object to how it’s used, by writing to support@tryquire.com. For payment records, we’ll pass the request to Polar where it holds the data.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Before we store anything new, this page will say so first, and we’ll tell paying customers by email.
Questions about any of this go to support@tryquire.com, and a person reads every one.
