Do I add GST to a wedding invoice?

Only if you're registered for GST. If you are, choose INR and tap the GST preset that applies, and add your GSTIN to your details so it prints on every invoice.

If you're not registered, which is common for photographers whose yearly turnover is under the registration threshold (₹20 lakh for services in most states), don't add GST. Leave tax at zero. Check the current threshold for your state with a CA.

Questions

How much advance should a wedding photographer take?
It's your call and your contract's. Many photographers ask for a share of the package, often around a third, to reserve the date, with the rest due on delivery. Write the amount and what it covers on the advance invoice.
What happens to the advance if the wedding is cancelled?
That depends on what you agreed. State your cancellation terms in your agreement and in the advance invoice's notes (for example, whether the advance is refundable and by when) so there's no argument later.
When should I send the balance invoice?
When you deliver: the edited photos, the album, or whatever your package defines as delivery. Send it the same day so payment follows the excitement of seeing the photos.
Do I need to add GST?
Only if you're GST-registered. If your turnover is under the registration threshold and you're not registered, don't charge GST.
Is it free?
Yes. Make and send both invoices free, with a UPI QR and no sign-up. Pro is ₹259 a month.
